At Ip & Heathfield, we understand that divorce is never easy. Our shared aim is to be accessible and approachable family lawyers. Whilst not necessarily engaging in general practice, we strive to provide a very specialized, personal, practical and cost orientated approach to clients who are often undergoing a very stressful and difficult period in their lives. Given the diversity of scenarios faced in divorce case and to ensure we can adeptly meet the different needs of every individual client, we work regularly with other professionals in the field of family disputes, in particular mediators, psychologists and marriage counselors to provide the best possible solution for all our clients in order to assist them in reaching the best possible outcome. We also have experience working alongside forensic accountants and private investigators to suit the needs of clients.
Our aim is to provide our services efficiently and effectively, responding quickly where emergencies arise. We have no hesitation in taking action by way of legal proceedings immediately when the necessity arises but our overall approach is conciliatory and sensitive to the emotional needs of our clients and their children whether they relate to financial matters or resolving differences in relation to the children. From an initial consultation to the end of their matter, we provide to our clients a realistic idea of what to expect from our services and ensure to keep them informed of all matters as their case progresses.
We have experience in dealing with matters relating to contested jurisdiction or multi jurisdictional cases in countries and states such as the USA, France, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Canada, and the UK. We have also been involved in cases relating to the Hague Convention on the Abduction of Children involving children wrongfully removed from or wrongfully brought to Hong Kong.
Given the close relationship between Hong Kong and China since the handover in 1997, marital disputes between the two areas involving finances and children have become more and more prominent in recent years. In preparation for this trend, Ip & Heathfield has built stable working relationships with law firms across China including Beijing and Shanghai to ensure that we are able to efficiently assist our clients who are faced with a cross-border divorce.
Since 2007, our firm has maintained a very close working relationship with matrimonial lawyers in China and has done many cases with the most imminent matrimonial lawyers in Shanghai and Beijing.
